2013 Late Harvest Riesling
Late harvest grapes are picked later in the season to assure the fruit has acquired the highest concentration of sugar. Grapes for the 2013 Late Harvest Riesling were foot-stomped (in rubber boots) and soaked on the skins for two days to achieve maximum flavor.
Riesling was one of the few grapes to show promise of fine wine in Santa Ynez Valley. Pierre Lafond planted the first block of Riesling in our Lafond Vineyard in 1972. We currently maintain 15 acres. Winemaker Bruce McGuire makes Riesling four different ways.
