2019 Riesling 2.1 RS
Lafond Vineyard
Sustainability in Practice Certified Wine (SIP Certified)
Riesling was one of the first grapes to show promise of fine wine in the Santa Ynez Valley. Pierre Lafond planted the first block of Riesling in our Lafond Vineyard in 1972. We currently maintain 15 acres. Riesling is very versatile, and can be produced in many styles. Winemaker Bruce McGuire makes Riesling four different ways.
The 2.1 designation on our 2019 Riesling 2.1 stands for 2.1% residual sugar, which lends a hint of sweetness. The amount of residual sugar varies slightly from year to year as it is balanced with the fruit's acidity.

Tasting Notes
The 2019 Riesling 2.1 is dressed in a delicate, muted gold and carried by aromas of honeysuckle, nectarine and vanilla. Concentrated flavors of golden apple and ripe peach cover the palate, with just a bit of spice. The acidity keeps it bright.

Winemaker Notes
Fermentation was stopped at 2.1% by chilling the tank. The sweetness of this wine is balanced by a low pH, crisp acidity and intense fruit. There is not much Riesling planted in the Sta. Rita Hills, which makes this wine a showcase of its potential in this appellation.
Food Pairing Notes
Spicy Asian fare; bleu cheese; pasta with creamy sauces
