2019 Gewürztraminer

"Gewurz" means "spicy" in German. Traminer is a type of grape. Gewurztraminer is grown mainly in France and Germany, where it is produced into many styles. Our 2019 Gewurztraminer was made in the traditional French Alsatian method, fermented dry. Winemaker Bruce McGuire sourced grapes from the heritage Alisos Canyon Vineyard in Los Alamos for this wine. The cool climate and well-drained soil help retain its spicy aromatics.

Tasting Notes
The 2019 Gewurztraminer comes alive upon pouring. The floral/citrus bouquet is heady, almost sweet. The aroma and flavor of lychee then enters and remains, leading to a surprising, dry finish.

Winemaker Notes
Alisos Vineyard is one the few vineyards in SB County planted with Gewürztraminer. This intensely aromatic wine was fermented to complete dryness, which makes it very versatile with food. Asian cuisine in general; red curry with duck is a particular favorite.
