2018 Petite Sirah
Thompson Vineyard
90 points - Wine Enthusiast
Petite Sirah is a mystery: a cross of Syrah pollen with Peloursin flowers. Peloursin is an ancient grape, found minimally in Southern Rhone today. The cross occurred in the lab of French botanist Francois Durif. Sometimes Petite Sirah is known as Durif. Winemaker Bruce McGuire sources 100% of our 2018 Petite Sirah from Thompson Vineyard in Alisos Canyon, the newest AVA in Santa Barbara County

Aromas of plum, blackberry, anise, cracked pepper and notes of clove. These scents are echoed on the palate with intensity and depth, offering layers of flavor and very graceful tannins for Petite Sirah, creating an elegant, yet powerful finish with notes of purple fruit and dark chocolate.

Winemaker Notes
Thompson Vineyard is located in our newest AVA, Alisos Canyon, located north of Los Alamos. It's an excellent red wine vineyard, planted primarily to Rhone varietals, Petite Sirah is a Syrah on steroids: darker blueberry and plum flavors, firmly tannic, more mouthfeel.
