2018 Grenache

2018 Grenache
Lafond Vineyard

Sustainability in Practice Certified Wine (SIP Certified)

Lafond Vineyard dedicates most of its space to Pinot Noir, but keeps room for Grenache in a section just north of the Santa Ynez River. Winemaker Bruce McGuire fostered the idea of growing a cool-climate Grenache on the property, and the results have been rewarding. Grenache grown in cooler climates tends to develop spicier components than in warmer climes, and our 2018 Grenache is a wonderful example of that.

Tasting Notes
The 2018 Grenache is a brilliant shade of cherry with deep red undertones. Aromas of fresh berry, eucalyptus and dried herbs hit the nose, while ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry meet with pepper and other spices on the palate. A dry but fruitful finish.

Winemaker Notes
Our Grenache was planted in 2002 from a Tablas Creek Selection from Chateau Beaucastel in Chateauneuf Du-Pape. With vine age, the wines have evolved from simple fruit to those with enhanced density and flavor.
